Is PSU responsible for these issues?
There are several situations when my PC shuts down completely.
Immediately after starting Windows after entering my password.
During moderate usage (rare).
When loading a game.
In the "blackout" situation where both monitors disconnect and the keyboard and mouse stop functioning, it feels like sleep mode but the PC is still active.
PC Specifications:
Ryzen 5 1600 OC @ 4.1GHz @ 1.35V with CRYORIG H7 Cooler
GTX 1070 8 GB
MSI B350 Tomahawk
RAM: Ripjaws V @ 3200MHz
PSU: Seasonic PRIME ULTRA GOLD 650W
SDD 250gb (WD BLUE) and HDD 1 TB (WD BLACK)
OS: Win 10 Pro 64-bit
Temperatures are normal. All cables are securely connected, and hardware is properly installed. I’ve updated the GPU drivers, reset them, updated the BIOS, and tried running without overclocking.
Before these full blackouts, the task manager would show a random 100% GPU spike before the game crashed. Now it’s the Windows that crashes, not the game.
I’m considering replacing the power supply unit. Any suggestions?
Seasonic Prime has some known problems, though it seems to work without an GTX 1070. Have you tried using various video cables? What operating system version is your system using?
It might be a defective GPU. Testing it on another system would help determine the issue.
