Is PSU producing a significant sound?
Hello, I recently purchased a new SSD drive – everything seemed normal until yesterday when my PSU began producing this sound. I suspected it might be due to dust accumulating on its fan, since my PC was generally dusty and I had been blowing dust away from other parts, but I hadn’t checked the PSU. Today, after turning the PC on for about an hour, the noise stopped completely, then gradually returned.
I recall having a similar problem 3 to 4 years ago, though I don’t remember exactly how I resolved it—it seemed to resolve on its own after a few days.
I think you didn't secure the PSU fan properly when you expelled dust from it. That caused it to spin much faster than its limit. It could be affected, might not be fixed, and could potentially recover.
I fully powered off my PC, if it's sufficiently stopped, perhaps you're referring to holding the fan?
Corsair offers a wide range of 650w power supplies, from used to premium models. The specific model number you're looking for is available upon request.
I didn't do that, but is there a way to make the fans return to normal? Are there any BIOS settings that could help? It seems like they're running more than expected. Also, I checked all system temperatures and everything looks colder than it should be when idle.
Additionally, I discovered that tilting the entire PC case changes the sound significantly, often making it much quieter or even noticeably so.
