I want to purchase PS2 Free Mac boot plug and play. I notice some say this item includes an FMCB function, but if you must download it yourself, you might as well create your own. My question is whether I should just buy an 8MB one. If that’s all required for a card, why would a larger size be necessary?

A standard 8mb card provides enough, but the small amount of free space restricts save options, which may be why users seek a larger card to avoid wasting storage.

It seems you likely have a different memory card for that device.
I'm still getting familiar with the PS2, even though I was around during its time.
