I understand your hesitation about diving into Photoshop. It can feel overwhelming at first, especially when you're unsure how long it will take to grasp the basics.

It's quite simple—just download GiMP and test it out for free, as it's mostly a free version.

Photoshop fundamentals are easy to grasp in just a few hours. Most people need about a week or two to become comfortable. Full mastery usually requires years of study, especially with professional guidance. I've been working with Photoshop for nearly six years and still don’t know all the features or applications.

Avoid using Gimp for Photoshop learning; it has different controls. Try Photoshop Elements instead.

I gained a lot during the week in the Photoshop class before I moved on. It's quite simple in Adobe Photoshop on Mac, though I'm not sure about PC.

Unless you aim for a professional role, I recommend getting familiar with GIMP. It works on more platforms, is free software, and is completely open source. Although the shortcuts differ, the overall capabilities are quite similar to Photoshop, making it possible to apply your skills later.

It's super simple. The essential tools are easy to grasp, just when you need them for precise tasks. Even then, there are clear, step-by-step videos available.

The PC version is essentially the same as you thought.
