is overclocking worth it?
Overclocking your Ryzen 7 5800X could add performance gains, but it might shorten its lifespan. Your setup with high-end components and an air cooler seems solid, so it’s worth testing. Keep an eye on stability and heat management.
The time it takes for the component to fail is not a cause for concern. When it stops working under regular conditions and gets overclocked, it will be so outdated that you’d have swapped it long before now.
I understand, and generally I wouldn’t OC until then. More Allcore would be better if it fits the situation. SingleCore might not perform well in demanding multicore games by then, since single-threaded improvements become less noticeable (except possibly on Windows, which should handle it quickly).
I realized my CPU can run smoothly at 4.55GHz without changing the voltage, giving me solid performance. I didn’t waste time searching for alternatives.
