my specifications are as follows: i5-4690k, asus z97-a 3.1 usb mbo, gtx 970, 16gb ram at 2400mhz, 500gb ssd (boot and storage), 1tb wb hdd, 500r corsair case, 650 watt gold seagate power supply (in case i forgot anything: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/tjFdnQ), one 240mm fan pushing in from the side (big fan, intake), two 120mm fans pushing in from the front (small fan, intake), two 120mm fans pulling out from the top (small fan, exhaust), and one 120mm fan pulling out from the back (small fan, exhaust). i would like to do minimal overclocking, maybe around 4.2 ghz. i am very new to overclocking and have never done it before. i am still using a stock cooler and need an aftermarket solution. i want a water cooler that lasts a long time and can handle a slight increase if needed. i would appreciate a simple guide for beginners, or at least someone explaining the process in plain terms so i can start easily. my main goal is to keep temperatures very low.

Search for overclocking guides for the 4690k, there are plenty already with more detailed content than what we can share here. There are also many videos—watch a few before you begin thinking about overclocking. Also, why use a water cooler? If you mean a complete closed loop, a good air cooler can be just as effective but more affordable.

Google overclocking guides for 4690k are available, with many detailed resources already posted online. There are also plenty of videos to watch before you even begin thinking about overclocking. Also why a water cooler? If you mean a complete closed loop, a good air cooler can be just as effective but more affordable. I’m not sure about the water cooling choice—I’ve always been advised to use it because it’s quieter and cools very well. My Mobo also has an EZ OC setting in the BIOS. Is it safe to use this for overclocking?
