I changed the BIOS settings on my motherboard using USB to match the CPU I purchased (RYZEN 5 5700X). The update took longer than expected—it kept blinking before I fell asleep and stayed active when I woke up until I returned home from school. Eventually, I unplugged the USB and turned it off. When I tried to power it on again, the CMOS clear button kept flashing red each time I switched the power supply. Am I sure my motherboard is damaged? Should I be cautious about building a PC with this board?

I might redo the BIOS update since the process seems incomplete. If needed, reformat the USB and keep only the MSI.ROM file. Connect it to the rear I/O of the motherboard’s Flash BIOS port. Press the flash button and observe the LEDs flashing, which confirms a successful flash. Once done, the flashing should cease indicating completion.

Building the PC inside the motherboard case is fine. According to @CommanderAlex, you can easily retry. This is why MSI offers a BIOS flash button on most X570 boards.

I followed the instructions carefully, starting with installing the firmware on the USB and then proceeding to unplug it safely.
