Win 10 failed to boot, recover or restore after the update last weekend. During troubleshooting I replaced the storage drive and installed Windows 10 (unactivated) on it, but when reinstalling drivers some components didn’t work—especially the network ones like Intel_Gigabit_Ethernet_Win7-8-81-10_V1510-20190 and WIFI_Win7-8-81-10_V6342235 from the manufacturer site, plus the GPU. This suggests a hardware problem, or maybe Windows is just inactive due to activation issues? Your system specs are: ASUS Maximus VIII Formula Intel Skylake Core i7-6700K Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 Intel 750 Series 1.2TB Full/Half Height SSD PCIE3.0 (system HD) Western Digital Black WD6001FZWX 6TB 128MB Cache SATA3 plus other drives, I’ve backed up data but can’t find a restore option), Corsair Force LE 960GB 2.5" SATA3 6GB/s SSD (CSSD-F960GBLEB), and Corsair AX Series AX860i 860W modular power supply, plus ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming graphics card.
Nothing to worry about. It’s a new install compatibility issue. It’s happened to me twice in the last few months. Your windows 10 new install looks so different from the current version of windows 10 (after all the updates to win10 over the last 8 years) that some drivers won’t install until windows update has caught up.
It can be tricky. You need those particular network drivers to update Windows so you can install them. I purchased a $5 USB3 to Ethernet adapter on Amazon. It’s easy to use and speeds up the updates. A USB Wi-Fi adapter would also work just as well. Either option, keep Windows updated and everything should function properly, even without activation.
OP recently got Windows 10, so the issue shouldn’t be old. However, because the fresh graphics driver download isn’t loading, it might point to a problem beyond the motherboard itself.
Windows needs to be at least version 1903 for Nvidia drivers to work. The new update is causing issues. I checked, it’s version 1803 or higher. Edited March 26, 2023 by Harmsway1283
The dose appeared effective. I’m using a net work adapter and have been employing it for a few days now. I believed it wasn’t completely current, perhaps due to some delay. The latest update came from a freshly downloaded 'MediaCreationTool22H2', which I expected would be up to date.
