I am writing an essay at college. Suddenly, my HP laptop started acting weird. At first, I ignored it because I was busy and told myself to fix it later. A reboot probably would have solved it, but the flashing artifacts came back fast and looked like folded paper. They keep folding and unfolding over and over again. There are lots of glitches: some flash quickly, others look spiky or stretchy. No matter what game I play, I either see spikes everywhere or just blue puddles that form and disappear all the time. So I checked online for issues before starting my search:
I updated Windows 10. I reinstalled NVIDIA drivers several times, even though I take good care of my laptop and it never overheated. It stayed cool while gaming (60-70C) and cooler when idle (30-40C). I also did not overclock the laptop because that isn't what happened here.
Here are some examples: and here is what happens during a game, using Heaven as my test app (FLASHING WARNING): The thing that made me mad was it started out of nowhere while I was only studying and doing homework for almost two weeks! Is this all? Does my laptop die? Or is it just a silly issue that is easy to fix? Thanks in advance.

Here is my update: I took it apart, wiped out the fans and the metal block that holds them, put some fresh goo on things, changed out the memory sticks, but it's not working better yet.
