Is my GPU fan spinning too fast when the computer is cool?
I bought a Gigabyte A5 K1 computer back in one year ago, so now my GPU fan is making weird noise sometimes. It changes speed very quickly, like every few seconds, and it makes a loud sound that I can hear with my ears even when the laptop is quiet. Sometimes there is no sound at all, but often it goes to full power. This happens only about once a week, so it doesn't bother me much. Clevo Control Center shows that the CPU fan is really slow, only running at 30%. But the fan speeds up and down by itself every few seconds, going from 2600 RPM to 3200 RPM. The GPU stays cool. I have tried a few things but haven't found a fix yet. My best idea right now is to turn off the laptop and wait ten or fifteen minutes before turning it back on. Any other suggestions?
Welcome to our forum! To keep things clear, do you have a laptop from either Gigabyte or Clevo? Is there anything new coming in the BIOS for your machine?
Clevo makes the frame, and it seems Gigabyte decided to use that same body for their model.
Hey, try updating your BIOS first. Then update your graphics drivers. Do a regular Windows update too and test it out. If the new BIOS is for your card, go ahead and update that as well and run a test. Once all updates are done and working fine, you can also do a stress test on the GPU for just a few minutes to see if your computer stays stable and to check how hot things get. On the stress test, make sure the fan is spinning at full speed, and then notice what happens. Please tell me the results afterward.
Hi! Thanks for the advice. My fans are working fine right now, so if something goes wrong I'll update my BIOS and drivers to check if that helps. I'm going to post the results here too. I know I can fix this already, but I don't know if it will make a difference yet.
