Is my GPU dying?
I purchased an MSI RTX 3080 gaming setup around two years ago and have been running it smoothly ever since. Recently, certain games would freeze for just a few seconds after launching. I attempted various solutions—from reinstalling Windows to updating BIOS, changing RAM, adjusting power supply, and even using another GPU. Nothing resolved the issue until I adjusted the core clock slider fully left and increased the memory clock by 840. While the games now run without freezing, performance remains subpar. I tested it with a friend’s GPU, which worked perfectly, leading me to suspect the problem was with my own card. I’ve tried overclocking but haven’t done it yet. My rig includes an MSI RTX 3080 gaming x trio, paired with MSI B450 gaming plus and Corsair 750w gold with 16GB RAM. I ran benchmark tests and got consistent results. Note: I previously mined with this card, so it could be a contributing factor, though I still hope for a fix.
Hi everyone, I'm starting here and want to confirm the temperatures and power usage are normal when the system is under load. GPU-Z looks really helpful for this.
I just tested it with Ghostwire: Tokyo and here are the outcomes. (It crashed right after a few seconds) I’m still learning this stuff, so is this typical under stress? GPU-Z Sensor Log.txt
Apologies, I didn't notice your message until now. You can click the reply button on someone's post instead of replying directly to them so they can view it. Your temperatures and power usage appear normal—this likely indicates a hardware problem. Would you try it in a different PCIe slot?
So I just did that and the issue is still there. I moved the card back to the main slot. Here's the GPU-Z sensor log just incase. GPU-Z Sensor Log.txt
Sorry, that didn't work. However, I did try his GPU (GTX 1660 super) on my computer and it functioned perfectly. His tiny PC case housed the 3080 was nearly unmanageable.
