I use a 1440p screen with auto HDR activated. I won’t attempt any overclocking except for the XMP setting on my RAM. Recently, my system has been acting up, and I want to identify the main problem. My confidence is around 80% that the graphics card is the culprit. I’d appreciate confirmation and guidance on possible solutions. Over the years, I’ve observed sporadic stability problems—brief interruptions in video output that quickly resume. These events were rare and didn’t disrupt my workflow much. About two months ago, things worsened after I began playing Warzone, Throne & Liberty. At first, everything worked smoothly, but I noticed my machine became excessively hot during gameplay. I ignored it at the time and continued playing. Roughly a month ago, crashes started appearing in Warzone, specifically with the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error, which suggests the GPU isn’t responding properly. I tried various workarounds, such as setting all system parameters to their lowest values, but the issues persisted. Even simple tasks like entering the lobby caused the game to crash during map loading. I’ve been keeping an eye on temperatures and adjusting fan curves to maintain cooler operation. Under heavy load, both CPU and GPU temperatures hovered around 80°C, never exceeding them. During this period, the video glitch became more frequent. Previously, it happened a few times a month now it occurs several times daily. When it does, the screen briefly turns blue—not a full error but a solid blue—before returning to normal. Occasionally (about five times in the past two months), the display shows white, green, and purple artifacts accompanied by audio glitches before recovering. Another change I’ve observed is that the blue screen flash now appears briefly when I wake the PC from sleep. Fortunately, other demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 still run without issues. However, these crashes and signal interruptions happen unpredictably throughout the day, regardless of activity. Based on these signs, I suspect the GPU may be failing, though I also consider it could be a PSU problem. What are your thoughts? Is it clearly the GPU? If yes, are there steps you recommend to address or prolong its life? I understand my PC is aging, and I’m planning a replacement, but I’d like to extend its lifespan as much as possible—perhaps another year or more. Or is there a higher chance it will fail soon?
