Is my gpu dying?
Hi, I've experienced some unusual stuttering on my PC for a few months, especially when scrolling or performing tasks. It seems like frame drops occur, and I'm curious if this might be related to GPU issues. I've tried reinstalling drivers, updating them, and even doing a fresh Windows install, but the problem persists. My system specs are: Ryzen 5 5600X, 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, GTX 1660 Super. Any suggestions?
Have you looked into the physical components or just the software?
If the computer has been running for a while, consider moving it outside to clear dust from the fans and GPU. Here are some suggestions: 1. Open Task Manager, check for high CPU, GPU, or memory usage and examine processes with heavy load. Also review startup applications (Task Manager or msconfig). 2. Use system monitoring tools like CPUID to verify fan speeds and temperatures, and monitor voltage readings for irregularities. 3. Visit Guru3d, download DDU, and install the latest graphics drivers. Make sure to uninstall the video driver completely, disconnect from the internet, restart, and then reinstall the new GPU drivers while back online. 4. Run the Windows System File Checker to detect and repair corrupted system files (follow the provided instructions).
There’s nothing to replace or check unless you want to try something new.
I'll look into it the next day. My B550 Elite V2 comes with BIOS that supports Ryzen 5000 series if that's useful.
