Is my gpu dead?
The system comes with a Ryzen 5 3600 processor paired with an OC Corsair H100i cooler. It includes an Asus B450F gaming GPU, 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LX memory, Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD, and a Gigabyte 1650 Super OC drive. Additional components are an afterburner OC, 100MHz core clock, and 50MHz memory clock. There’s also a Zalman Z7 Neo with Windows 11 Home running at 144Hz.
Recent issues involve frequent restarts while the GPU is heavily utilized above 90%. After several months of use (3-3.5 years), some overclocking has been applied. The monitor connection stopped working, and the motherboard debug light showed a yellow warning. Removing the RAM stick in the fourth dimming slot cleared the yellow light. Now a white debug light appears, indicating a VGA problem.
Possible solutions include checking for GPU stability, updating drivers, or testing with a different GPU. If the symptoms persist, a dead GPU might be the cause.
I recently removed the GPU and it’s still producing the same white light. Now there’s an HDMI connection from my monitor to the motherboard instead of going into the GPU. I’m not sure if this is normal, especially since my CPU doesn’t have built-in graphics. Unfortunately, I don’t have a spare GPU available.
