Hi, today while viewing a YouTube video, the sound cut off and both screens turned white. I waited a while but nothing happened, so I pressed reset, which restarted the PC but left the monitor blank. The motherboard displayed code 62. After removing the GPU and connecting it back to the board, nothing changed. Eventually, I took out the GPU entirely and everything worked fine again. This situation—whether it’s time for a new GPU or if it can be fixed—is unclear. Here’s the timeline: bought the card 7 years ago, heard about EVGA cards catching fire, replaced thermal pads, it performed well until about a month ago when multiple games started crashing. I underclocked the card, adjusted the thermal limits and fan curve, which stopped the crashes. I shared this issue on PC parts forum.

Side, I followed these steps a month ago when the game would crash and nothing changed. I swapped the GPU for a GTX 780 I owned, and now everything works fine. It seems the 1080 has a hardware problem—it’s showing small signs of life, like the BIOS prompt appeared once, but otherwise it stays silent. The motherboard shows Q_code 62, and the VGA LED is yellow.
