Is my Dell Precision 5510 acting strange?
My Dell Precision 5510 is working great for just two weeks. In the first week, it was super fast when playing games at high settings and getting 60 fps smoothly. Suddenly, everything got slow and laggy again. Even though I turned on performance modes, nothing helped. Now my games only get 20 to 30 fps instead of the smooth 60 frames per second before. I tried resetting the computer a few times but it still isn't working. I have the newest graphics drivers installed too, and that didn't fix anything either. I am really stuck here and need some help. Any advice or tips on how to make this work again would mean a lot to me. Thank you so much for reading my message.
The i7-6820HQ CPU came out on September 1, 2015. I found a review about a Precision 5510 laptop back in January 2016. Since the computer is this old, problems are starting to happen. If you bought it used, did the seller tell you if they checked and cleaned the cooling fans? After seven years, those fans could be full of dust making the CPU slow down and cause choppy performance. Or maybe it's a RAM problem. Go download MemTest86+ on a USB stick and run a memory test like this one: https://memtest.org/. You can also check Dell pages to see if there is an update for the BIOS. It might be that your 512GB SSD drive is getting old. Download a trial copy of Hard Disk Sentinel to look at the disk's health data: https://www.hdsentinel.com/. When you "reset the computer a few times," did this mean reinstalling Windows or fixing it?
I cleaned up my Windows for three times, but the seller didn't say to clean it again.
