I own an AMD A10 5800K with 8GB of RAM running at 1333MHz, using a 70-watt power supply and a monitor that runs in 1366 by 768 pixels. I want to upgrade my rig by adding a gaming GPU, specifically an Nvidia GTX 450, so that Valorant runs smoother with more frames per second. However, when I try to figure out if this setup is good, the bottleneck calculator says it's stuck at 81.5% efficiency on 768p resolution and suggests bumping up to a 1080p monitor instead of sticking with what I have. Since I don't want to spend extra money on a new big screen and I also hate messing with overclocking, what other steps can I take to fix the bottleneck?

But... Most of the time it's the CPU that decides how fast things go. The GPU is mostly for showing cool pictures. If you put in a stronger GPU, your speed stays the same, but your visuals become much better.

OK... That doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't check those "bottleneck calculators" for upgrade advice at all. Your main problem is actually your CPU, and the small amount of RAM you have. No matter what GPU you buy, it won't really make a big difference to how fast things run.

Is the GPU strong enough? I just play Valorant using my built-in graphics, and I get scores between 70 and 90. That's not good enough because I want to reach 100 or higher so I can keep up with most of my friends.

The GTS 450 is an old piece of hardware. It is likely better for games, but it won't give you higher frames per second because it lacks the power inside your processor.

Got free stuff? Clean up that SSD. Stop letting random programs run in the back and make sure everything stays slim.

I just use one piece of software, it's called Valo. I don't record anything or have other programs running in the background.
