It seems the top choice is to upgrade the CPU and motherboard. Damn, I just built the PC six months ago... I wonder if I'll be able to find a compatible CPU and motherboard... Maybe I'll skip the game.

Your build is quite solid. It performs well in High to Very High settings for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, satisfying all system requirements. The i7 6700K paired with a Ryzen 5 1600 delivers six cores and twelve threads, while your i5-9400F offers six cores and six threads. In specific games, the i7 6700K can provide about 5-10% higher FPS compared to the i5-9400F.

The game remains stable, functioning as expected in beta. You should be able to reach 60-80 FPS easily, and even surpass that by adjusting graphics settings to reduce visual quality. FPS fluctuations are typical for recent titles, particularly those from Ubisoft.

The main challenge comes from the expansive world and its dynamic events, especially explosions. These, along with demanding areas of the game and various players, contribute to occasional FPS drops. When playing online, additional latency from other players can further affect performance.

Your PC setup is generally adequate. Your hardware isn’t outdated—expect around 60-75 FPS with minor fluctuations, often climbing into the high 40s or mid-50s, and reaching approximately 85-110 FPS in Ghost Recon Wildlands. With a 2015 i5 at 3.0 GHz and 1070p resolution, your system is more than capable.

Don’t underestimate your equipment. Those who claim otherwise likely don’t understand the situation.

You have a pretty powerful gaming setup, shouldn't run into much trouble. The breakpoint is mainly CPU-intensive, as expected. Wildlands behaves similarly. It's huge and stunning, but it really drains the CPUs, which is normal given the game's demands and engine performance. Your machine is quite capable—my rig previously had an i5 8400 before getting Wildlands, so I can't provide exact figures with my 1660 Ti.
