is kinguin safe?
Usually i would say "get a key from a decent place" but it being a MS product, i don't give a sh*t. It should be safe but just know that the chance is big there was illegal activity involved somewhere.
These are genuine access codes gained via developer network breaches. They remain valid as long as someone at Microsoft or the seller’s company is monitoring the account, after which any unclaimed codes linked to that profile could be revoked. The process might take an extended period or never occur, but their authenticity is questionable.
There is a risk as there is something called KMS which "generates" windows keys which deactivate after a month or so. As long as you buy it from a high rated seller you will have no issue. KMS is a program associated with a company which gets legit keys from windows but it is obtainable to the wide public through a simple download.
Kinguin doesn't appear to have any viruses, but that's not what you were asking. If you're checking if Kinguin offers genuine keys, I'll say purchasing below MSRP means you're cheating and getting a grey key. Anything priced under MSRP isn't fully trustworthy. For a legitimate ISO or key, either buy at full price or get the ISO directly from Microsoft. Anything else puts you at risk. Any advice on buying illegally would go against the rules. FYI
You can get items both legally and illegally, yet still end up paying less than the suggested retail price. The 7 Home keys were nearly $190 before Windows 10's telemetry issues.
I used to be concerned about this, but now I understand I usually rely on the OS until it reaches the end of its life. That means the $130 I pay for the full price is actually reasonable; it ends up costing less than one coffee every three months throughout the computer's lifespan.
Kinguin is considered fairly secure. It mainly functions as a platform for trading Windows keys from various sellers. This doesn’t automatically imply that all available sources are trustworthy. The people behind these platforms often offer products just like legitimate vendors do. I’ve bought several Windows 10 OEM keys from a specific seller on Kinguin over the years. I also purchased two keys from other sellers at lower prices, which led to issues like 'key already in use' both times. It’s challenging to recover value with an OEM license, so there’s a real risk involved. Generally, you’re advised to contact Microsoft for assistance. These are just poor sellers, and that doesn’t necessarily reflect the situation on Kinguin. I can’t recommend specific safe or unsafe resellers publicly, not even on forums.
