Checking if upgrading the FX-8320E to 3.8 GHz is beneficial with your current setup of an RX 580 8GB and 8GB RAM.

Most posters here would say yes, or even YES. Does your PC perform as you want? If so then there is no reason to overclock.

It's always beneficial to overclock! This provides continuous improvements, not limited to gaming. It should also boost your overall performance.

For the most part I just want to play everything ultra with 60 FPS. I currently get high settings 50 FPS with most games.

Overclocking is often beneficial, but not always. Occasionally, you encounter hidden flaws or errors that gradually damage your data. By the time you notice frequent crashes and realize your system isn’t as reliable as you thought, you discover a significant amount of corrupted files on your drives. This happened to me once, costing me much more time than the 20% overclock would have saved.
