I'm offering my PC to help fund a new build. I'm keeping the OS intact since I plan to upgrade to Windows 10 later. Many buyers need an operating system, so I'm not sure if Windows 7 or 8 is necessary. It's possible to use both versions for different PCs—your old one and the new one you're selling.

You might set up Linux on it or obtain an affordable Windows key from sources like G2A or similar sites.

You could either purchase a fresh hard drive and set up Windows 8 via G2A, or return your current drive and install a new operating system using G2A.

Acquire a used hard drive and follow the advice of others, or break it apart.
