AMD needs to develop powerful APUs for the next consoles, likely with 6 or 8 cores since lower numbers won’t handle AAA games well even with console optimizations.

It features 4 processing units, not six. None of the 3000-series mobile processors exceed four cores. I should be aware, your laptop uses a Ryzen 7 3700U.

Support, unlike Intel's attitude of ignoring GPU choices, Ryzen IGPUs and APUs are built for budget gaming. Those requiring more than four cores may opt for a dedicated card. Users of HTPCs are happy with four cores, making the market quite limited.

In fact, it seems next-gen consoles are expected to include a separate navigation system similar to the Xbox One X. However, the way it’s built won’t change much from previous models.

The problem extends to surface area as well. Having over four cores implies multiple CCX or core chipsets, along with a cache to support them, while the GPU portion of the APU already occupies most of the available space. This makes meaningful implementation unlikely on AM4.

They've already revealed the 4000 series mobile APUs featuring up to eight cores. It's worth mentioning that the integrated graphics chip is actually slightly smaller compared to the 3000 series, which could be due to the die size constraints.
