I'm using a Ryzen 9950X with a Cooler Master Atmos 360 water cooler. During my full system scan with Bitdefender, the CPU temperature was consistently around 82°C and occasionally reached 88.6°C. The fans were spinning extremely fast, almost like a beehive.
Is this normal or should I be concerned? When the machine is idle, the temperature drops to about 36°C to 48°C.

When recalling my 10900K CPU, it would generate more heat across all cores during a full Windows Defender antivirus scan of the entire OS drive. The drive used an NVME storage. In the core temperature reading, I noticed maximum usage on every core when the antivirus was running intensely and raising the CPU temperature. This made me enjoy using it as a testing tool for overclocking.

I need to consider that your CPU is faster than mine and therefore tends to get hotter. However, the 9000 series is cooler for me because of its smaller core size. I'm currently running a scan; the highest I've seen so far is 83°C, which is the max my intake fans reach, so it probably won't go much higher. It mostly stayed between 72 and 83°C. HWINFO recorded a temperature of 89.1°C during the scan but I might have missed it. I didn't even think about switching the air cooler to High Performance mode. It usually isn't necessary for my CPU, though it's a small adjustment that makes the PC noisier and slightly cooler—not really worth it most days. It seems to mainly use 2 cores. My next PC will likely have a 9950x3D, so I'll be closer to you then. I recall Bitdefender running on my I5 4690k hitting 100% CPU while scanning the SSD—it was a bit slow to respond, and I couldn't stay focused typing an answer.
