The TPM status on PMC indicates TPM 2.0, and the Windows Health Check confirms compatibility with Windows 11 across all categories. The system suggests a free upgrade is imminent, though it directs me to a Microsoft site stating that Windows 11 is available soon but still requires a device update. Clicking the "Check now for free upgrade" link opens Windows Update settings, where I see a red cross indicating pending requirements despite having the latest updates.

it ought to have provided itself by now, it has been out for a year.
Since you're ready, go here:
click top link
run installation assistant, it should upgrade the install to windows 11
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
Windows updates have often caused confusion before. If the tool says you can, you should be able to.

I looked into Widows Update today. Today's status differs from yesterday, now showing "This PC can run Windows 11". Great news – your PC satisfies the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. The exact release date might change as we finalize it for you. Please note that some Windows 10 functionalities won't be available in Windows 11. Various applications and features may require additional conditions.

My suggestion is to hold off for another year or two, avoid joining the early adopter group unless you're a passionate person who enjoys tackling challenges. The Windows 11 codebase isn't particularly stable at the moment because they're frequently making changes due to its recent release. In another year or two it should stabilize as they shift more focus to Windows 12, which is expected around 2026. The safest choice would be to be a generation ahead of the main release.

After doing some Windows 10 updates and rebooted, the status is changed to "Coming soon: Windows 11, version 22H2 Windows 11, version 22H2 is on its way to your device. There's nothing that requires your attention at the moment. Once the update is ready for your device, you'll see it available on this page."
I guess it may be available within a day.
How much performance drop if I just do an update vs. a fresh install? Most sites suggested doing a fresh install for "extra" performance.

Shouldn't there be no performance change? Following Windows 10, Microsoft adopted an update model allowing full system swaps without issues. The installation essentially replaces the Windows directory, creates a backup, then reinstalls drivers at startup. If Windows fails to transfer drivers properly, you may need to install them manually.

Early adopter? It's been available for over a year... when is it too soon? When does it end?

Up to now, Windows 11 has been quite reliable. There have been no problems at all, and the only changes were upgrading from Windows 10.

I possess certain outdated applications created using Boland C++ Builder 6.0 roughly two decades ago. Could Windows 11 provide a compatibility setting enabling me to execute these programs with complete accuracy?
