hello i overclock xeon x5670 to 3.9 with auto voltage (1.264 - 1.272) – is it safe? will it harm your motherboard? temperature testing shows the cpu stays under 75 (70-75).

The voltage you're displaying is acceptable. Values below 1.35v are generally fine, though 1.35v is Intel's recommended safe limit for your CPU. You can safely go up to 1.4v, but I wouldn't recommend it. Auto usually adds a bit more voltage than needed, but you're still within the acceptable range and temperatures appear normal.
If you wish, you could attempt to reduce the vcore to check stability, but overall you're in good shape.
