Is it possible to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on a laptop?
Recently, Rockstar published the system specifications for Red Dead Redemption 2, and I’m currently situated somewhere between the minimum and suggested specifications for most of my hardware. I own an Asus ROG with an i7-7700hq processor and a GTX1060 3gb graphics card, along with 12 gigabytes of RAM. I inputted my specifications into a website that analyzes your specs against the game’s requirements and estimates performance levels at various settings. The site indicated I could anticipate approximately 55 frames per second at very high settings with a resolution of 1080p, although I’m uncertain how much weight to give that assessment and would value a genuine opinion from someone with firsthand experience. I’m sorry if this seems basic 😂
This game should operate satisfactorily, however, you’ll probably need to reduce your visual configurations due to your limited GTX 1060 with 3GB of memory. It's more important to ensure you have sufficient storage space on your hard drive, as certain installations can necessitate a significant increase—sometimes even double—the game’s actual size. Considering this, upgrading to a larger solid-state drive could improve performance, particularly given that Red Dead Redemption 2 exhibits slow loading times when installed on traditional 5400rpm drives.
Despite running adequately, expect to reduce your visual settings due to your GTX 1060 with 3GB of memory. It’s more crucial to ensure you possess sufficient storage space on your hard drive, as certain installation files can consume significantly more room than the game’s actual size – potentially requiring up to twice that amount. Considering this, a larger solid-state drive could also improve performance and minimize loading delays, particularly on older hard drives. Red Dead Redemption 2 exhibits lengthy loading times when installed on traditional 5400rpm drives.
