Is it possible to operate a 240Hz display at a refresh rate of 144Hz?
Is it possible to operate a 240Hz display at a refresh rate of 144Hz?
Greetings, I'm seeking details regarding the "Alienware AW2518H monitor with G-Sync." I’m assembling a new gaming PC:
Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti graphics card
Ryzen 7 2700X processor
16GB RAM at 3200MHz speed.
I intend to purchase this monitor alongside these components, but I'd like to downgrade the refresh rate from 240Hz to 144Hz as it seems excessive for my current needs. I have two inquiries:
1. Is G-Sync compatible if I operate the monitor at a 144Hz refresh rate?
2. Will there be any issues utilizing 144Hz on this model, specifically concerning ghosting or screen tearing?
My goal is to utilize 240Hz initially and maintain it for future upgrades when I replace my graphics card and processor, then transition back to 240Hz later.
Doesn’t the core purpose of G-sync involve utilizing a fluctuating refresh rate? Considering my experience, I don't foresee any difficulties. I own a 144Hz display and consistently game at 60 frames per second without encountering problems. Moreover, that monitor operates at 1080p resolution, which would naturally allow for a substantial frame rate.
Wouldn't the primary benefit of G-Sync be its ability to utilize a fluctuating refresh rate? https://pcmonitors.info/others/nvidia-g-...echnology/ I don’t believe this would present any difficulties. I own a 144Hz display and consistently play games at 60 frames per second without encountering problems. Thank you for your response. Will I need to reduce the graphical settings in titles like PUBG or Fortnite? Or will I be able to run effectively at 144Hz on this 240Hz monitor? Taking into account my system – a 1070 Ti, Ryzen 7 2700X, and G-Sync – with these specifications.
