You might link a USB 2.0 cable to a USB 3.0 port, but it won’t work directly. The connectors are different, so you can’t simply swap them.

You can find adapters that change a USB 3 connector into a USB 2 connector, though they won't match in size or shape.

Most USB connectors have adapters available for nearly any type, making it wise to search for one if that's your sole choice. For more advanced setups, PCIe expansion cards with different USB connectors can also be used.

I'm even more puzzled that the OP is matching this "future-oriented" board with what I think is an outdated or inexpensive case. Or maybe they don't have a dedicated ARGB header in 2023.

I also have a recent mb in an old case. My matter remains sufficient, just lacking usb3 ports which aren't essential. Edited July 29, 2023 by leclod
