Could anyone recommend the appropriate CS 1.6 version for playing counterstrike offline with your wife and bots? I've tried the original CS 1.6, opened the ports, set up port forwarding on my router, and even disabled the firewall, but nothing worked. Could you share a link to the CS 1.6 download and some guidance on configuration?

You aim to play online; the sole purpose of using a router would be to host the server on the internet.
For local gaming, one system should serve as the host.
Configuring a LAN server:
Navigate to your game directory
Locate "hlds.exe"
Execute with administrator privileges
Enable access in firewall if asked (this is the Windows firewall, not the router)
Adjust the game settings
Create a password
Launch the server
Access the game
Go to find servers and the LAN tab
A game should appear. Select it and begin play. To modify the map, open "hlds.exe" [it should be in the tray icon].
console commands:

It's been a while since I've had a CS 1.6 server running, around 2003.

I tried it before too, without a firewall, but it didn't work. Could someone offer other ideas?
