Is it possible to enhance performance by connecting a 12v HPWR power supply to a PCIe 4.0 graphics card?
With the RX7800 XT, the PCI e 4.0 graphics card features a power supply port that supports 2x 8pin connectors. I observe the PSU, thermaltake GF3 1000W includes a 12v HPWR port and comes with the cable. I’m questioning whether it’s beneficial to use an adapter cable to connect the 12v HPWR power supply instead of the two 8pin connectors.
Adding an adapter ensures compatibility. Just use two 8-pin cables.
In general, it is not recommended to begin mixing and matching cables and/or power connections without specific manufacturer guidance confirming the compatibility of the connections.
When dealing with multiple components such as your GPU and PSU, you should verify everything before establishing any connections.
Keep in mind that adapters and cables may vary in quality, design, and manufacturing, which could lead to issues.
Always refer to the documentation.
Any adapter introduces an additional issue. Connecting two cables from the power supply and linking the 8 pins to the video card seems straightforward, right?
