I own a PC I assembled myself and today I acquired a new MasterBox Q300L case along with a Thermaltake 600w PSU.
When I first connected the power supply, the computer would start but no display appeared. I hoped moving everything around would resolve the issue, but it still didn’t show any screen.
After looking online for possible fixes, I tried several methods and eventually decided to remove the CMOS battery. I wasn’t sure if the advice was genuine, as it mentioned removing it while the PC was powered on, but I did so. Unfortunately, it fell and hit my GPU, causing a spark, and now the computer won’t turn on at all—it briefly attempts to power up before shutting down.
I’m not certain this affected my GPU since it still shows a power status LED and behaves normally for a moment when active. I don’t have a replacement, so I’m seeking another opinion before purchasing a new one (I really hope my build hasn’t been damaged over the past four years).

Things I attempted:
- Re-seating RAM
- Re-seating GPU
- Inspecting all cables
- Resetting the CMOS (tried twice; first time, before dropping it, it didn’t fix anything and the PC wasn’t running)

Additionally, it was functioning properly earlier today, only stopping after I connected the new PSU.

My previous setup included:
- Asus Prime a320m-k
- GTX 1070 OC
- EVGA 450w power supply
- Ryzen 5 4500
- crucial 16GB x 2 RAM
- and a 1TB Western Digital NVMe SSD

The only change was the replacement of the power supply.

I don't recall seeing that instruction before the machine started functioning. Please be more cautious with the next one.
