Is it okay if I speed up my computer right now?
So about a few months ago, I bought some new RAM called Gskill Ripjaws V running at 3600 MHz. At that time, my processor was an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and my motherboard was an ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming. My main issue was that even though the manual said it could handle 3600 MHz, I couldn't actually go higher than 2933 MHz for some reason. So I just decided to stick with what it could do. It seemed weird because my friend has the exact same motherboard and a Ryzen 5 3600 processor with Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro RAM running at 3200 MHz, but he had no trouble going overclocked there. But when I tried overclocking myself, everything would just freeze up on every single boot until it blue screens. Fast forward to now and I have a new processor which is an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, so I'm not sure if this setup will even work or what happens next.
It probably works on a new computer, but this one needs an upgrade first.
Even an old processor can work fine if you set up a new BIOS to allow DOCP.
I used to have the exact same problem with my 2600 processor, but I could only reach 3066MHz. Now that I'm using the same motherboard with a 3600 processor, I can go up to 3800MHz instead.
