I'm working on assembling my first PC together with a friend, and we're still figuring out if overclocking is right for us. Could you help us understand the advantages and disadvantages of overclocking? When might it be necessary? Thanks in advance!

The Cryorig C7 40.5 CFM CPU cooler isn't suitable for a 7700k processor. The EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold certified modular ATX power supply may be better options, especially the GS, G2, or G3 models.

A build similar in cost to what you have now would suit overclocking requirements. This setup is a Ryzen 5 1600X configuration, though it's worth considering the extra cores and threads available, along with a motherboard that supports strong overclocking.
