For reference, my equipment back then consisted of an Athlon XP 1800+ with a single core and 512MB of RAM, paired with a GeForce FX5200 that was on the lower end. Eventually, it upgraded to an Athlon XP 2800+ with a single core and 1GB of RAM, and at one point I added a GeForce 6600 for certain DX needs.
I haven't seen Age of Empires II or the Command & Conquer lineup lately, but both have new versions recently. Additionally, there were early versions of Counterstrike before it became a standalone game, and Day of Defeat was a WWII Half-Life mod. Warcraft III was also modified to create the first DOTA.
Yes, I just want to be able to locate benchmarks at 1080p for any GPUs so I can have a reference to work from.
I didn't own a 1080p monitor until around 2012 or so... The common resolutions back then were 800x600, 1024x768 (CRTs), and 1280x1024. Top users might have had 1600x1200 if they were fortunate.
The performance isn't fully understood because it depends on the CPU type. With a fast CPU, things are different. Watching a video on YouTube didn't give a clear picture, but it showed around 286 FPS using a 9th gen mobile CPU with a mobile 1650.
There are numerous choices available, and considering the yearly number of games released, you'll find a substantial selection even if much of the content isn't particularly notable. I've compiled some options on this list in alphabetical order; some might need special software. There are many more available.
