Is it feasible to overclock without using turbo?
i have an asus v gene i with turbo boost enabled at 4.4ghz and 1.305v. my temperatures stay stable even under load, never exceeding 60. the cpu is an i5 2500k. if i lower the voltage, will it improve stability? i don’t have a way to overclock the multiplier without turbo boost. help me please.
I want a 4.4ghz without turbo possible. I asked a similar question a few weeks back, I also have an Asus motherboard, Z170-AR, and an i5 skylake. The answer I got was: "Overclocking with the CPU multiplier is essentially changing the turbo boost's multiplier on Asus boards and is the correct and preferred method to OC unlocked chips, leave turbo boost on."
When you disable turbo boost, the multiplier you select will match your current speed. For instance, with a CPU multiplier of 35 and 39 in full turbo (one core), turning off turbo keeps it at 35, meaning turbo is off and you can overclock freely. Concerning offset, I'm not sure, I haven't used it myself, though others might prefer avoiding it.
I need to find a processor with a clock speed of 4.4ghz that doesn't require turbo boosting.
I want a 4.4ghz without turbo, right? That depends on whether your chip can handle it. Increase the multiplier by one, run a stress test, and keep testing until it fails. I think you've set the voltage manually and not left it on auto?

Thanks, I know one way is to increase the bclk but I'm not sure, so I have to use turbo boost as the only option I get to reach 4.4ghz.
