Good evening everyone. I'm new to overclocking and I noticed your cooling setup might raise eyebrows. I boosted my CPU from 4.2ghz to 5.0ghz at 1.32 volts, ran a stress test with Intel Extreme Utility for half an hour, and the temps hit around 70°C. That’s quite high—well above what I expected. Could it be that my PC isn’t reporting accurate temperatures? I’m curious if there’s a chance of misreporting. My CPU specs are: i7-7700K, 5ghz, 1.31V, delidded, with thermal grizzly liquid metal inside and Kryonaut on the outside. The cooler is a Noctua NH-D15 with Bequiet Silent Wings fans, plus two silent in-windows and a third set of fans. The case is a Bequiet Silent Base 801 with an airflow front panel from the 802 model. I wanted a quiet system but still achieved complete silence during testing. Now I’m looking for more performance. According to SiliconLottery, top chips can reach 5.3ghz at 1.4V—would that be too much? If so, my CPU might be struggling. Can you advise on the thermal limits? Thanks!

Theres still some headroom so i dont see why you shouldnt push for more, just make sure that the temps dont exceed 80c though cause too hot = instability, though depends on the oc. Personally i can run 4.45ghz on my e8400 at 1.43v just fine at 86c smallffts test in prime95, its just not stable cause god damn my board sucks (p5q w bios mod to p5qd) Maybe you might be able to squeeze an extra 200-300mhz depending on your sample. Intel 14nm spec is 1.52v and deathzone is all the way at ~1.95v so yea you have alot of volt headroom, just gotta see if the cooling can handle it
