I built my first PC last month using a Ryzen 5 3400G, and later added an 1660 Super. The concern is whether swapping the Ryzen 5 2600X at the market was just a straightforward replacement. My motherboard is an ASRock B450. I'm a bit anxious because everything seems to be functioning properly now.

Sure thing, just add it in and it should function properly (provided everything is intact).

It should work directly with the 2600X version. You're losing performance per core, but it's still a decent experience.

GPU encoding could also be considered, particularly with the GTX 1660 Super's updated Turing encoder. When using OBS, you can switch between different configurations to convert your screen display into a video stream for online broadcasting. If you choose x264, it processes on the CPU, allowing you to utilize multiple cores for smoother performance—without affecting single-core speed. On the other hand, NVENC streams directly to the graphics card, which means CPU usage remains low. I’m familiar mainly with recording tasks rather than streaming, but I found NVENC to deliver a clearer output with minimal effort. My system has a Ryzen 7 1700, which offers more cores than a 2600X but runs less efficiently on single threads. The newer GPU features might ease encoding challenges. Just try NVENC if x264 doesn’t suit you. P.S., the CPU swap is essentially just changing the processor, so it shouldn’t cause any major concerns.

The additional cores could be useful, but honestly, I wouldn’t expect much difference if you directly compared them for all tasks.

Just be careful with the removal of the cpu cooler. you might pull the cpu out the socket with the cooler too.

Advice given on handling the process. Gently detach the CPU cooler from the CPU by rotating or sliding it outward. Ensure it comes up straight if possible to avoid damaging pins. Once free, slide both components sideways to release them from the cooler. Move slowly and watch for resistance as the CPU nears detachment. Be cautious of sudden movement which may indicate it's ready to fall. Remember to keep the CPU oriented with pins facing upward. Avoid bending pins by applying gentle pressure only on the PCB if necessary. Take care to check the area after sliding to prevent pin damage. Good luck with the procedure.
