Is it beneficial to upgrade your CPU and GPU right now, or should you hold off?
Hello,
After four years of owning my computer, I've noticed prices are rising again at the same time. I've been considering getting the 9070 XT since its release, but uncertainty about future costs made me hesitate. It's currently around its MSRP, though I know GPUs could jump dramatically in a month or so.
I own a Ryzen 7 7700X and a 3070 Ti, which work well for my needs. Still, I'm curious about upgrading to something more powerful for demanding games. I've been eyeing the Ryzen 9800X3D and the 9070 XT. Prices would be around $350 for the 9800X3D and $550 for the 9070 XT.
Should I go ahead and purchase these, or is it better to wait for a more stable time?

If needed, I’ll also check the GPU and PSU specifications.
Are you sure about the title? What resolution and refresh rate are we targeting?

Begin by using the GPU as recommended, then move on to upgrading the CPU.
If necessary, you can install a 9800X3D and use a BIOS update for the latest version.
AMD GPU drivers are no longer a concern; they have been reliable for quite some time.
A 9070XT or 5070 Ti will suffice for 1440P and can even handle 4K.
Since you mentioned it, is the 5070ti really worth more than the 9070xt for the extra cost?
I only play with 1440 due to my monitor, but as discussed, I'm thinking about checking more powerful specifications. I'm not very familiar with things like FSRC vs DLSS or fake frames, and I've only used Nvidia models before, so I'm unsure what to expect. I'm a bit unsure and hesitant.
I haven't tried any of those features yet, but would it really matter if I did? Would it make a difference if I decided to look deeper?
If you're not using any of those features the 9070 XT is actually a little better in pure raster performance.
For the most part the cards trade blows depending on the game, and are roughly on-par with each other.
DLSS4 is still better than FSR4 (on par with DLSS3) etc if that could potentially matter to you down road.
There's no wrong answer here, it just boils down to if you think the additional cost meets your needs.
