Is it a power supply problem or just some other thing?
It's a V3 model and it was cheaper than my usual Corsair choice. I also heard great things about a few other brands. I thought it might be around 105 dollars, so I did some checking before buying it to make sure there wasn't something else with the same features that would do the job faster. The V3 is supposed to arrive tomorrow, but for now I'm trying to check if there are any hidden problems. It's tough though to trust those two old power supplies.
The old computer used 550 instead of 750 when I tried it. It's frustrating! 😅
Got an update: Corsair sent me an RMA for the 750e. I think I'll keep that as my backup, but I'm waiting to hear what they want if other stuff breaks from this failure. I can test tomorrow and then tell you everything here. I really hope it's just not enough power. Working from home isn't a good idea because being down for a week or more when I could be ready is not ideal.
The 550 starts up without the GPU plugged in and one stick of RAM installed. I will test both sticks to make sure this isn't a problem with the memory. At this point, I guess that if the motherboard really wants to take the GPU out, it's probably dead. Edit: It also won't see my hard drives. The BIOS asked me to change settings and now it sees both of my RAM sticks but not my drives or processor in the list of detected items.
