I7 2600 Gtx1070 with 8gb palit, 240gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 2 x 500gb hdd, 1x 16gb, 1600mhz Intel dp67bg. Recently upgraded from GTX 1050ti to GTX 1070. Benchmark shows high draw of 145w, shuts off completely when unplugged, then restarts with scanning. SSD health at 90%. Concerned about PSU capacity since it's second-hand, but CPU and GPU temps are normal. Thermal readings: 70°C CPU, 77°C GPU. Power consumption is high—could limit it with a better PSU or are there other issues?
I suspect the problem might be with the power supply, as I'm unfamiliar with this brand or model. The lack of results from a Google search doesn't give me confidence in its reliability.
I suggest you look into more affordable options. Your setup seems to work within your current power limits, but the sudden drops could indicate instability. With a budget of 750W gold and only 150SGD available, you might need to prioritize essential components or consider lower-power alternatives.
The Corsair RM750x appears to be a strong choice that will effectively handle the task.
I support considering a Corsair PSU if funds permit. I haven’t faced many problems with them, but based on general reviews of the post, a Tier A gold listing would be ideal. Saving on the PSU usually isn’t wise—especially with a wattage of 750 or more, it’s likely to last through any upcoming part changes in the next few years.
