these chips aren't impacted because they're just crippled at 12600ks—they're from the 12th gen, not the 13th or 14th. You probably wouldn't choose them over the 12600k since it can be cheaper. If you're interested in Intel, go for a 13600/14600k or better yet a 14700k; their multicore performance is superior to AMD for the same price. Alongside that, an IGPU matters too.
My suggestion would be to opt for Ryzen instead. Aliexpress 7700 is only $160 and significantly outperforms the 12600k. The 13600k is a real competitor, especially in multicore. Aliexpress Ryzen 9 Pro 7945 is around $260, which matches the 14700k. Boards like B650M HDV or B850M Pro-A are enough for most builds, provided the VRMs can handle an overclocked 16-core setup.
Intel is moving up, needing pricier Z boards for decent VRMs. But there are more affordable and solid Z690/790 options under $150 now, making it less of a deal-breaker. Still, it remains a dead platform compared to the AMD Ryzen lineup.
Your strategy is clear—stick with a budget of 14,400. AM5 offers superior performance and future-proofing.
The h610 comes with a more affordable b650 model and the am5 version is positioned near 75-85$ on AliExpress. It still outperforms the 12600k in single-core performance, reflecting a significant improvement over zen3 and the 12th generation.
The article notes that not every CPU was impacted. It highlights laptop CPUs and points out that further details appear when scrolling down, covering i3 and non-K i5 models. Some Raptor Lake chips are actually built on the 12th generation Alder Lake, such as the 13400.
I created it a while back so I can't exchange it. The only option is to sell it.
In fact, I’m not really looking to upgrade much on this machine. It seems the build is pretty close—my i3 12100f with a RTX 3060 Ti and a 550W PSU. I think rather than changing everything, I should build a more powerful system. Recently, the CPU is acting as a bottleneck because of poorly optimized games, and I doubt four cores will be sufficient in 2025. Maybe in the future I’ll go with an RTX 6750 XT.
