Hi everyone,
I own an Asrock H310M-HDV with an i5 8600k. I recently acquired a used i9-9900, which was functioning well before the purchase. After switching, my PC started but no video output appeared from the GPU (5700XT). The IGPU is operational.

During troubleshooting, I adjusted several settings in the BIOS—preferred GPU selection, disabling IGPU when a dedicated GPU is connected—and re-enabled them. I also found a bent pin on the motherboard and fixed it. Connections to RAM and the GPU were cleared, and I performed a CMOS reset. The BIOS was updated.

I tried the Intel stock cooler and the 212 cooler I previously owned. I also reinstalled the old i5, which now works perfectly.

Power supply: EVGA 750 Bronze
Memory: 16gb x2 Crucial Ballistix Sport 3200

The GPU remains undetected by BIOS or Windows. I don’t have another GPU to test, but I do have a PCIx1 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card that performed well in both x1 and x16 slots with the i9.

How can I proceed with further debugging? There’s no way back to the CPU, so I’m wondering if it makes sense to consider buying a new motherboard for testing purposes. Also, unfortunately, Intel’s warranty expired last month. Thanks.

Bios version is 4.20 which currently listing the new CPU as compatible. There is a 4.30 beta version, I'll try with that one too and let you know how it goes

Hey there,
I'm not sure how you verified the i9 before buying. Did you actually test it?
Which specific PSU model are you using?
Since the i5 is functioning properly, it might indicate a faulty i9. Are there any obvious bent pins or damaged contacts on the CPU or socket?
Have you reset the CMOS after the latest BIOS update?
