Is everything functioning properly or are there any issues?
I've noticed some strange issues lately—glitches, artifacts, screen distortions, and sound problems. It happens while browsing, chatting, or playing games. I’ve checked various settings and hardware changes, but it’s still happening. The glitching seems to appear when loading web pages, Discord, or games. I’ve tried cleaning the install, switching GPUs, using different monitors, adjusting cables, changing HDR settings, and even toggling G-Sync. So far, nothing resolves the problem. There are also sound issues only in one game, Elden Ring—robot noises during load, then silence afterward. Even after reinstalling audio drivers, it persists. My PC is new, just a year old, and started acting up a few months ago. The specs look fine, but I’m unsure if it’s a hardware fault or a driver/driver problem. What do you think?
Consider installing Ubuntu and checking its stability. If issues arise, try transferring a fresh Windows ISO from another USB drive to rule out corruption or drive problems. I suspect the Windows image might be faulty or the storage media is faulty. You've already done everything possible to fix it.
Ubuntu is a free operating system, you can simply install it and it might resolve your issue. Appreciate the suggestion!
Ubuntu runs as a Linux operating system. However, it seems you're encountering some frustrating display problems. For fun, let's try these steps: 1. Install Razer Cortex and attempt to launch the game. This should optimize your system and remove background processes, giving you a smoother gaming experience. 2. Then add Furmark and HWmonitor, perform CPU and GPU stress tests while HWmonitor is running, and monitor your temperatures to confirm everything is functioning properly. (please share your screen capture results). 3. If those don't resolve the issue and you still face screen tearing, it might indicate a problem with the graphics card or the DP/HDMI connections. It's disappointing when hardware fails unexpectedly. On a lighter side, double-check your DP/HDMI cables for wear and tear. Make sure your HDMI and DP cables meet current standards. (DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 Once these tasks are done, we should better understand the situation.)
She mentioned a recovery date I should use if the tearing was severe, like December 25. Normally, browsing would work fine, but it only lasted a week before the restore point vanished. As long as I just viewed content without making changes, things seemed okay. When I started editing or trying fixes, the tearing began again. It looks like a complete failure of the recovery point. In my opinion, this likely points to a hardware problem rather than a software issue. After installing a fresh Windows on another NVMe drive, the same problem persisted, leading me to suspect a physical component issue.
Once you complete those tests and they don’t help, begin searching for an older GPU driver—mid-last year versions should be sufficient. You can easily locate a "past drivers" page for your GPU on Nvidia’s website: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
It happened without any drivers installed, just like I removed the driver and entered DDU mode. During this time, I tried to locate another HMDI cable, someone suggested it might help but I wasn’t sure. I have two monitors and they use different cables, so it shouldn’t be an issue.
GPU temperatures seem acceptable, but the CPU on a Ryzen setup is slightly warmer than usual. If it was during a CPU stress test, throttling might be occurring. Some game rendering tasks are CPU-dependent, which could explain the issue. Even when I run the CPU burner on my system (Intel 11th and 12th gen, known for high heat), I only reach about 82°F. This suggests a potential problem. In this case, I’d revert to a driver from mid-last year and check if screen tearing persists.
Let me give it a shot, are you sure it's not a cable problem? Someone mentioned an SSD issue, and another suggested the RAM might be the cause.
