I have lots of CD and DVD backups plus several computers, and I need to know what files are where. Back in the 90s, that was simple, but now I can't find a great program to use one. I want something free if possible.

What are your needs; for instance, what makes something work well? Try to list specific things like fast speed or command line interface versus graphical user interface. Do you want some customization options? Like using macros or a special database format? What other software did you try before, and why did those get rejected?

Do you only need a quick list of every single file inside every folder showing just their names? There are over 12,000 files on one drive alone. And there are even more on another drive... like 3,998. Do you want to see all that?

I need something with a simple interface that just does one thing: show me file names, sizes, dates, and extensions. I forgot what programs did years ago, so I gave up quickly. What if they told me the program name? So I could tell it which computer, which drive, or which CD name is there. "One drive at a time... 12,220 files named on this drive; 3998 files named on that drive, etc?" Yes.
