My Dell 1545 has been quite the performer over the years. It has experienced only minimal issues. I've had to replace the Wi-Fi card and hard drive to maintain its performance.

The system is operating with Linux-Lite 7.4. It features 4 GB of memory that passed the built-in test. The CPU (Intel 9600, upgrade available) and a digital 350 GB hard drive are installed.

The laptop now takes a considerable time to start up—at least four minutes, which is unusual for this model. Previously it would take about sixty seconds. The CPU has been fitted with a new silver heat sink and is operating at 110 degrees F under load, such as during video playback. The heat exchanger appears intact, the fan is functioning properly and increases speed when needed, and there is no dust in the cooling system.

Occasionally, the laptop freezes. After a reboot, everything seems normal for several hours or a day or so.

I have replaced the hard drive, but the same issue persists. It's unclear whether it's the CPU, the Wi-Fi card, or the memory that's causing the problem.

When the laptop is first powered on, the Dell software launches immediately. Then the screen turns blue with a flashing cursor in the upper left corner. The system runs for four minutes before loading onto the home page. There are no spinning-wheel indicators or other signs during boot-up, but once it reaches the home page, it operates normally until it freezes again, at which point I must shut it down.

Thank you for any useful information.
