Your 32GB DDR3 RAM works fine with DDR5 speeds. Your older RAM should still function properly regardless of the new motherboard support.

Your satisfaction hinges on personal benchmarks. If I hadn’t secured the 8086K, I’d likely be content with my previous 4790K and 32GB DDR3 1600. For those not chasing top frame rates in the latest, tough games, you probably won’t feel pressured.

Irrelevant topic. RAM is linked to the CPU you use and the operating system you run; you should check if your processor still meets your needs. Memory size matters only if you have sufficient space. If you can't use 32GB, extra capacity won't help much.

It works well with the processor you possess.

I mainly play at lower to medium settings, so I'm curious about how performance would change in newer titles.

You have a 4790k processor and feel confident about its CPU performance after upgrading from a Pentium. You typically play at medium settings, but you still want at least 30-60 FPS.

Last month you had only 4 GB, but now you're considering upgrading to 32 GB. The focus is more on the 1600 MHz speed, as newer DDR4 and DDR5 chips exceed double that frequency. Thinking about moving to 2600 MHz? That could be worthwhile depending on your needs.

Using an i7 4790k doesn’t make sense to boost your RAM speed. DDR3 2600 won’t run smoothly; I usually get 2200MT/s on Haswell and had to adjust the IMC voltages and memory timings manually in BIOS. You usually gain more speed by overclocking the CPU.
