Is Chrome browser hijacked or infected with a virus? Here are some tips to help you.
Hello,
Today I opened Google Chrome and immediately realized my profile was completely logged out. I managed to sign back in, but the background picture vanished. The home menu displayed only my bookmarks and favorites. On the extensions menu it stated my browser was ‘managed by your organisation’. Since I use my PC at home and act as the administrator, I’m puzzled about how it could have been changed. Also, this situation hadn’t happened yesterday (as of now). My brother mentioned he had downloaded an ISO file for a random Roblox script on the same day, and everything worked fine until I used the PC the following day. I’m uncertain about the cause of the problem, but could it be a virus?
When I search in Chrome now, I’m redirected to a website called ‘searchesmia.com’ before any results appear. Additionally, my search settings have been altered, causing me to use Microsoft Bing instead of Google. I ran a Windows security scan, but it found nothing. I attempted a registry check and removed all Chrome policies using a batch file from the internet, but it didn’t help. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome multiple times without success.
Recently, whenever I launch Chrome, it simply closes and reopens repeatedly, cycling endlessly until I manually close it. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d really appreciate it.

these kinds of accounts or programs often update automatically without your consent, causing you to log out and lose your settings.
it’s highly probable your system is currently compromised by malware.
try running anti-malware tools and cleaning software to check the outcome.
I installed malwarebytes and performed a complete scan. It detected threats and I removed them. The process seems to have improved. Now I can use Google Chrome without it frequently closing, and there are no suspicious extensions installed. There’s also no redirecting to unknown sites. Still, it mentions my browser is managed by an organisation. Should I accept this or remain cautious?
if logging out of the active account and trying to log back in with your own Google login doesn't fix the issue, perhaps consider uninstalling and reinstalling the browser.
I would just remove it and leave it as is.
I don't like Chrome or Edge and prefer Firefox and/or the older Internet Explorer.
