The EVGA 1070 typically runs about 36°C at 60% fan speed during load, then dips to around 51 or 55°C occasionally. Restarting the PC and switching back to Overwatch restores normal GPU temperatures.

55C looks great for a GPU. Most NVIDIA models should work until 83

Running a stress test similar to Unigine Heaven usually raises the temperature significantly, around 70°C or higher, with a variation of about 5 degrees.

Even with 60% of the fans running at speed?

It's a 60C model with the fan running at half speed on your Strix 970.

I've seen Overwatch strain the GPU a lot, even though it's mainly CPU-intensive. My fury X had to set up a custom fan profile, and everything worked out.
