Hey everyone! I've been wanting to try HL2 for a while, but it usually only lets me play for about ten minutes before feeling really sick and almost throwing up. Others suggested checking the field of view and refresh rate, but that didn't help. Eventually I gave up. Recently I thought about Half-Life 2 and realized how annoying the game sounds were. I reinstalled it today and started playing—after roughly seven minutes I needed to go to the bathroom and almost vomited. Then I tried again later, this time with audio turned off and subtitles on. It lasted about three hours without any nausea or discomfort. Honestly, I was forced to read subtitles in silence, but it worked! I've heard many people online mention similar issues with HL2 causing sickness. If anyone else has experienced this and found relief by muting the audio, please let me know. Thanks for your help!

I experience dizziness while sitting on a spinning wheel at an amusement park, not from playing games.

That sounds intense! Are you thinking about experiencing something very immersive?

I experienced dizziness while playing HL2, yet it didn't occur in the earlier episodes or other titles like Portal or L4D. I managed to complete HL2 sessions of about an hour before needing a break. Initially, I didn't suspect the audio was the issue—I thought it was the field of view. I plan to revisit it later with adjusted sound settings.

I purchased Portal 2 but ended up avoiding playing it altogether. It really made me feel unwell.

You experience discomfort with the Oculus, especially at high frame rates. It seems your body reacts to both motion sickness from the headset and intense visuals.

I’ll definitely give it another shot tomorrow. I’ve tried HL2 with three different headsets, but it still gives me discomfort. It might be related to the specific headset used. I’ll look into that further.
