Is an i5-2400 insufficient for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive?
Is an i5-2400 insufficient for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive?
Hello everyone.
To summarize, three months ago my computer had this configuration and CSGO consistently achieved 150-200 frames per second:
i5-2400 processor
dh67CL motherboard
GTX 750Ti 2GB graphics card
2x4GB DDR3 1333 memory
Suddenly, following the November update, performance plummeted to just 80 FPS. I initially suspected the graphics card. A friend then provided me with a 600W power supply and an R9 290X.
When installed in my system, CSGO only manages around 130 FPS (whereas it previously reached up to 350 on his machine – averaging 230 FPS), he uses an i7-3820 processor. Is the i5-2400 processor no longer suitable for CSGO? Should I upgrade to an i7-3770? Will I observe any performance improvement?
Thank you.
Quick Update: I play CSGO at 1440x900 with Low settings; testing at 1024x768 yielded the same results.
Troublesome patch likely. Redoing graphics card software yet the issue appears to require fixing by the game’s creators.
